The
SIME Journal
is primarily a professional peer-reviewed publication that welcomes
scholarly manuscripts concerning a variety of topics especially
those of interdisciplinary nature as indicated in SIME mission
statement.
Manuscripts submitted via e-mail for
in-house-reviews must be sent to the Editor most suited for the
topic of your work and/or to someone who knows the language in
the case it is written in a language other then English.
Following review, materials may be returned via e-mail for revision before
final acceptance. All materials are edited as necessary for
clarity and conformity to SIME standards. Because we provide all
information at no additional cost to the public, we cannot
pay for submissions.
Guidelines for Submitting
Manuscripts to the SIME
In addition to satisfying all the
copyright restrictions and the permissions as indicated in the copyright agreement, authors
should prepare manuscripts as follows:
1. All submissions must include a title page
and a listing of all authors, their degrees, their e-mail
address, their institutional affiliation, their full mailing
addresses, and their phone and fax numbers (include country
code). Only the name and the institution will be published
unless otherwise specified by the authors.
2. Submissions should include an abstract of
no more than 150 words (highlighting the scope, methodology, and
conclusions of the paper) at the beginning of each manuscript.
3. If using copyrighted material (quotations,
tables, illustrations, etc.), the author is responsible for
obtaining permission from the copyright holder.
4. Tables and figures, a maximum of three
each, must be included within the text of the paper. In
addition, it is expected that the author will prepare the
table/figure for a professional appearance.
5. As this is an interdisciplinary journal,
authors are asked to follow the latest edition of any of the
documentation styles used in the field of the topic of the
publication. SIME will accept the following styles of
documentation: Modern Language Association (MLA), American
Psychological Association (APA), Council of Biology Editors (CBE),
and Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) styles.
6. For transliteration, you may use the font and keyboard
templates to generate the special characters and symbols.
You can find more information on this on the Support page.
When creating references to electronic
resources consult the Publication Manual and the
up-to-date information and examples at the Web site maintained
by the
publishing societies.
6. Submissions can be made in any of the
languages for which we currently have an active Editor.
7. Papers must be formatted, edited, and proofread for final
publications; we do not have the resources to reply to all
inquiries or inform the authors of the status of their papers.
Review Process
There are two review tracts: (a) one
provided by our in-house Editors and the other (b)
is provided by the authors' colleagues.
(a) Authors need to ask a minimum of two (three is encouraged)
colleagues specialists in the topic of the paper for review.
The author must
forward his/her work along with our
Checklist to these reviewers. When
we receive all or at least 2 of the reports from the reviewers,
we will act on their recommendation as explained in the
Checklist. The reviewers must
directly and confidentially email us their reviews.
We
prefer this option since it is faster then the first, and it
will keep the reviewing load that is handled by our in-house
Editors and other members of the faculty to a minimum. We
also believe that it is easier for the author--than for us--to
locate colleagues who have similar interests and who will be
benefiting from this exchange of ideas.
(b) This particular review processes usually takes two to
three months and the following procedures are followed upon
acceptance of a manuscript.
1. The Area Editor, in consultation with other Editor(s) Editors, will determine if the manuscript is appropriate for
the journal.
2. The Editor will remove all identification
of the author(s).
3. The Editor will distribute the manuscript
to two reviewers with a reviewing
checklist.
4. The reviewers will return the manuscript
and
checklist within six to eight weeks to the
appropriate Editor.
5. The Editor will then forward the decision,
along with the comments from reviewers to other Executive Editors.
6. The Editor will then forward the decision
to the authors by e-mail;
7. In all cases, the Executive Editor will make the
final decision.

Other Essays, News Commentaries and Political Arguments
News commentaries,
essays, and political arguments are not
subjected to the review process outlined above; they are judged
based on the merit and relevance to the current events.
Additionally,, papers that are declined by the reviewers may be published as
non-peer-reviewed articles. These options are necessary in order to publish ideas in a
timely manner when dealing with news and in order to allow for a
great diversity of ideas without compromising the scholarly
review process. Please email such
work directly to an Editor in the appropriate language.
